Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
Mary said to angel Gabriel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” Angel Gabriel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”
Brothers and sisters, Jesus is the Son of God. He’s not just a prophet, neither is He one of the angels; He’s greater than any human being who ever lived; we can’t even compare Him with any one, because it was by Him that all things were created!
Recognize the greatness and awesomeness of Jesus! That’s one of the reasons why we celebrate Christmas, because it was the day God Himself manifested in human flesh; born by a virgin, and dwelt among men. The angels rejoiced in heaven on the day He was born; that celebration will never end! Hallelujah!
