“Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.” – John 6:15 NKJV
“The trees once went forth to anoint a king over them. And they said to the olive tree, ‘Reign over us!’ But the olive tree said to them, ‘Should I cease giving my oil, With which they honor God and men, And go to sway over trees?’ Then the trees said to the fig tree, ‘You come and reign over us!’ But the fig tree said to them, ‘Should I cease my sweetness and my good fruit, and go to sway over trees?’ Then the trees said to the vine, ‘You come and reign over us!’ But the vine said to them, ‘Should I cease my new wine, which cheers both God and men, and go to sway over trees?’”
A lot of us have been robbed of greatness and fulfillment by seemingly “fantastic offers”. We know that we weren’t born for what we’re doing at the moment, but because of some present discomfort, and because of the attractiveness of what was offered, we took our eyes off the glory of the future and settled for what was given to us. And so we have been robbed of our destinies.
Brothers and sisters, not every good offer is good for you! It’s not every open door that you should walk into! I wish I had stronger words to communicate this! Stick to your purpose! It may not be rosy at the moment, but if it’s your purpose don’t give it up for anything else in the world! Learn from the trees!
