Spirit And Life Devotional: Brothers – Born For Adversity

Must read

[pull_quote_center]”Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.” Genesis 14:14 NKJV[/pull_quote_center]

God made the church a family. You see, we may be anything else in Christ, but more importantly you and I are brothers. You may not have biological brothers, or maybe they are not playing any vital roles in your life; the good news is that everyone in Christ is your brother; we are all connected by the blood of Jesus!

A brother is said to be someone you can depend on, and who you will do anything for. Brotherhood is more than just having the same surname or having the same blood running through your veins; no, it is a bond between people; it’s a commitment. You will have a better understanding of brotherhood when you study about David and Jonathan: their commitment to one another continued to the next generation even after the death of Jonathan.

Proverbs 24:10 says that “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” But no one has to fail because Proverbs 17:17 says that a brother is born for adversity. No wonder the Bible says that two are better than one. I encourage you today to be an active member of church, and a unit or department in your church. By so doing, you will be able to enjoy all the benefits of brotherhood.
