The story is told of a certain man lame from his mother’s womb whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple to ask alms from those who entered the temple. The man saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, and he asked them for alms. But fortunately for the man Peter and John had no money to give him. But they had something better; so they said to him, “Look at us.” And thank God that he gave them his attention.
The man didn’t only give them his attention; he did that expecting to receive something from them. When we go to the presence of God, do we go with expectations? Do we even give God our attention?
Don’t go before God without an expectation. You see, when men met Jesus He asked them, “What do you want Me to do for you?” In other words, He expected them to have expectations. Always have something that you expect God to do for you; that’s one secret of receiving from Him.
