Pilate was trying Jesus, and was asking Jesus questions, but Jesus did not answer him. Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?” Jesus, Who had been quiet immediately answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above.”
In Luke 4, we read that the Israelites tried to kill Jesus by throwing Him off a cliff. But Jesus simply walked through the midst of them and went His way! Many times, they tried to kill Him but could not, because His time had not come. In fact, Jesus made it clear that He had the power to lay down His life and to take it up again! No man could kill Him until He decided to die!
They dragged Paul and stoned him until he was assumed to be dead, but the Bible says that he got up and went back into the city! Brothers and sisters, it doesn’t matter who doesn’t like you; it doesn’t matter who wants you out of the way; it doesn’t matter the threats against you; and it doesn’t matter what they have already done to you, they will never succeed in the name of Jesus! You will live long to declare the goodness of the Lord! Amen.
