Spirit And Life Devotional: The Calling Of God

Must read

[pull_quote_center]”Then the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’” Amos 7:15 NKJV[/pull_quote_center]

Amos reminds me of David. Psalm 78:70-72 says, “He (God) also chose David His servant, and took him from the sheepfolds; from following the ewes that had young He brought him, to shepherd Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.”

It’s an awesome privilege to be called and chosen by God to work for Him; what a great honour. In these last days, God is calling more and more people to work for Him in different capacities; He’s calling people who never even dreamt that they would have anything to do with the ministry.

Is God calling you to work for Him? I wrote the following some years ago: “It is good to work for others, better to work for yourself, and best to work for God.” Yes, that’s true! There’s no job in this world that’s more rewarding! None at all. You’re not only rewarded here, you’ll also be rewarded in heaven! It doesn’t matter what you’re doing now; Peter and Andrew were fishermen, Matthew was a tax collector, yet God used them to change their world. Hallelujah!
