“When we come into the land, you must leave this scarlet rope hanging from the window through which you let us down. And all your family members—your father, mother, brothers, and all your relatives—must be here inside the house.” – Joshua 2:18 NLT
Rahab had helped the two Israeli spies who were sent to check the city of Jericho, by hiding them from the king’s men. In return for her kindness, Rahab wanted protection for herself and her family members. The men agreed, but with a condition.
The condition was that the scarlet rope was to be left hanging on her wall; and that everyone who would be saved had to be in that house. If the scarlet rope wasn’t there, and if they weren’t inside that particular house, then they would perish.
Brothers and sisters; that house is Jesus Christ, and the scarlet rope is His blood! God asked the Israelites to put the blood upon their houses; He said, “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.”
We are safe in Christ, and by the blood of Jesus! Hallelujah!
