The Israelites had left Egypt where they had been treated as slaves for the Promised Land, and they kept moving until they got to the Red Sea. There were no boats, neither were there ships; even if there were, they were insufficient. The sea seemed to be an obstacle.
As they journeyed to the Promised Land, I do not think that they expected to encounter a sea wide enough to hinder them from moving forward. They left Egypt with very high hopes; they left Egypt with a lot of excitement; but they became very discouraged and afraid when they were by the sea and the Egyptians were right behind them with the intentions of enslaving them again.
But God said to Moses, “Tell the children of Israel to go forward.” In other words, obstacles in your path are not enough reasons for you to quit! Listen; in the journey of life, as you seek to make progress and to achieve significant things, you will come across obstacles; when you do, do not be afraid; do not decide to terminate your journey at that spot; do not go back either; keep going forward and God will make a way for you!
