“And Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.’ And they marveled at Him.” Mark 12:17
Withholding what rightfully belongs to another person is a spiritual offence, in case you didn’t know. Especially when the person has earned it. You are obligated to give them their dues as and when due. Apostle James spoke strongly against employers who withhold the wages of their employees (James 5:4). If you do so, it’s wickedness: stop it immediately and make amends.
Now, Jesus stated clearly that just as there are certain things meant for Caesar, there are things meant for God too! It’s a pity that people take spiritual things for granted, and they wonder why they continue to struggle. This is wisdom: never withhold anything meant for God.
Ananias and Sapphira died for withholding what belonged to God. They pledged to give the full price of the land they sold, but they withheld part of it, and pretended that what they gave was the entire sum. And Peter asked them, “Why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?” Acts 5:3
Are you indebted to God in anyway? Is there something God specifically asked you to be doing? Did you make pledges to God? Are you sowing materially to those who sow to you spiritually, as instructed by God? Set yourself free. Give God what belongs to Him and He will surely bless you. Amen.
