Spirit And Life Devotional: Regulated By The Word

Must read

1 Samuel 15:11 AMP “I regret making Saul king, for he has turned back from following Me and has not performed My commands. And Samuel was grieved and angry [with Saul], and he cried to the Lord all night.”

God asked Saul to go and completely destroy the Amalekites for trying to stop the Israelites from entering into the Promised Land as they came out of Egypt. Saul went with his army as instructed, and in the process, thought it better and wise to retain the good things that were seen in that land for themselves and also spared the king’s life.

God’s interpretation of Saul’s action was that Saul had stopped following Him. That’s noteworthy. It means that a decision not to do any of the word of God is a choice to stop following Him and to follow our own will. At that point we become lord of our lives.

We’ve got to be careful. Going to church is not what pleases God, doing His word is what’s important to Him! We sin every time we do not do the word. 1 John 3:4 says, “Everyone who commits (practices) sin is guilty of lawlessness; for [that is what] sin is, lawlessness (the breaking, violating of God’s law by transgression or neglect – being unrestrained and unregulated by His commands and His will).
