He who despises the word will be destroyed. That’s enough reason not to despise it. In Hosea 4:6 God said, “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” God said He was going to treat them exactly how they treated His word!
What’s your attitude to the word of God? God said, “But on this one will I look: on him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word.” While having discussions with people, and I make reference to the Scriptures, I’ve met those who say things like, “Keep the Bible aside!” Keep the Bible aside? And they are supposed to be Christians! It never ceases to amaze me!
As a student, I had a “Ghana-must-go” bag (a travelling bag) of messages (CDs, tapes and videos), I had many books too, I even decided to start a book club: till today, part of whatever I earn is used to buy knowledge!
And I don’t just listen to the word, I honour it! Whatever God says is final, whether it is illogical or seemingly stupid, my business is to do the word and to be guided by it.
“He who fears the commandment will be rewarded.” When the word of God is first in your life certain things come to you without having to pray for them. So stop despising the word, knowingly and unknowingly with your attitudes.
