“For I know your willingness, about which I boast of you to the Macedonians, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal has stirred up the majority.” II Corinthians 9:2
When something is to be done for God, the first thing that God looks for is the willingness to do it. In other words, what matters most is not just your ability to do it, but your willingness to do it. You may have the ability, but if you lack the willingness to do it, God won’t recognize it.
It’s very important. It’s important because it has to do with motives and attitude: remember that God looks at the heart. Before He considers the act, He first sees the heart. Isaiah 1:19 says, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” And 2 Corinthians 8:12 says, “For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.”
Whether you have the ability is not the issue, if you have a willing and ready mind, God counts it for you. Listen, God is never impressed by “ability”, because He makes people able and capable; what He loves is people with the right response, approach and attitude. That’s why God was pleased with Abraham: not because Abraham offered his son, but because he was willing to!
I encourage you today to always have a willingness to do things for God – to be with Him, to give to Him, and to work for Him. Remember, everything we do is unto Him. Amen.
