I prefer classy ladies who understand the basic tenets of style. To be classy, you don’t have to splurge on a $500k diamond heel shoes or wield some Hermés tote bag with astronomical price tag. This is where most Nigerian “celebrities” and “society ladies” (whatever that means) err in the area of style. A popular adage goes thus: “Money can’t buy style” and this implies all what a lady ever needs is confidence, charisma and carriage. Rocking pieces in cream and black required unadulterated class. You may have the dough, but without the requisite confidence, class and carriage, it’s baseless. Below is a few style tips which could be applied with other colours.

Accessories: Let me start by noting that the best “accessory” a lady should arm herself with is a well-toned body. Most celebs go for figure-enhancing dresses but this cannot work for everybody as some do have flabby arms and tummies. It is unsightly for anyone to spot your “baby pouch”, flabby body parts in any cream luxury piece as it takes away attention from what you’re wearing. Hence, well-toned arms, legs, butts, curves and abs are ABSOLUTELY IDEAL if you must rock a nice cream dress for service or on the red carpet. Another point to note is minimal accessorizing is crucial. Hence, pearls, bangles, cocktail rings, hairpins, cinch belts, etc may kill “the look”. A bi-colour luxe cuff, drop earrings and a clutch purse are style staples one shouldn’t ignore.

Hair: Adorning a simple coiffure like a side-swept ‘do, neatly packed ponytail or high bun is ideal for this two tone combo.

Makeup: Minimal makeup is crucial for a Sunday morning service. Be as NATURAL AS POSSIBLE. Red, peachy or nude lips will discreetly notch up the whole look. This actually depends on one’s individual style. But avoid dramatic makeup.

Shoes: This is usually the icing on the cake! Ideal shoes for this look could be ankle-strapped sandals, t-bar sandals, captoe and pointy-toes shoes in a creamy colour. Avoid chunky heels or wedges as they may not make for the chicest shoe options. For the promising new week you are getting set for, one could effortlessly assemble chic two-tone ensembles and accessories without breaking the bank!

Have a lovely week ladies!
