Unknown hoodlums have unleashed an attack on the night of Tuesday, October 7, 2014 on one of the legislators of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Benin, Edo State, Honourable Rasak Momoh, at the legislation quarters.
Honourable Momoh who is currently at the Accident and Emergency Ward of the University Of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) where he is receiving treatment.
It was learnt that the rebels attacked him severely and left him almost dead.
While speaking to news men earlier on Wednesday, October 08, 2014, a close member of his family who pleaded for anonymity disclosed that the injuries sustained by the suspended lawmaker are too serious and might prompt a flight overseas for proper treatment.
The lawmaker was suspended by the leadership of Edo State House of Assembly over his failure to resume plenary at the old Assembly chamber at the Government House where the Assembly relocated to pave way for renovation of the Anthony Enahoro Assembly complex at the King’s Square, P.M News reports.
The representative of the Etsako West Constituency 1 in the Houseof Assembly was said to have disclosed to people two weeks earlier that Governor Oshiomhole has hired assassins from the riverine area of the state to get rid of him.
The Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Noble Uwoh, claimed to be uninformed about the development when contacted on phone by some correspondents. He pleaded for time to check with the DPO in charge of the area.
