We Will Never Take Lagosians For Granted – Lagos Speaker

Lagos State House of Assembly will never shirk its responsibility to bring government closer to the people, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has said.

Obasa, the chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures, made the promise on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at a constituency stakeholders’ meeting where he had the opportunity to reel out some of the achievements of the House this year.

Obasa, who represents Agege Constituency 1, praised Lagosians for their resilience despite the economic challenges brought about by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He hailed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his team for their prompt response in containing the pandemic.

“The House approved N20 billion COVID-19 Intervention Fund aimed at containing and managing the spread of the virus as well as mitigating its effect on Lagosians.

Members of the Assembly have urged Lagosians, especially youths, to eschew violence.

Leading other lawmakers, Deputy Speaker Wasiu Esinlokun-Sanni, who met with his constituents at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Hall, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island, described the destruction of lives and property on Lagos Island and several parts of the state as regrettable.
