Tragedy Averted As Security Operatives Defuse Bomb in Jos

Members of the Police Anti-bomb Squad and Special Task Force, STF, on Thursday, December 4, 2014 defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Plateau State.

According to an eye witness, the IED was discovered between Tin City School of Electronics and Fatima Primary School under a culvert around Laranto market area in Jos North local government area of the state.

Captain Ikedichi Iweha, the spokesman for STF, confirming the incident said the bomb was successfully defused and stressed on the need for the citizens to remain vigilant.

He said: “terrorists from the North-east are looking for areas to cause trouble, especially during this festive season. We urge people to remain vigilant and not take things for granted.”

Iweha dispelled the rumour that another IED was discovered around Old Airport Junction in Jos south LGA, but assured that security men are on the alert
