Unsettled Ease: Anambra’s Famed Native Doctor Abducted, Casting Shadows on His Powers

ABA, Nigeria — A celebrated native doctor, known as Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki (“An Egg that Breaks Palm Nut”), was kidnapped on Sunday, July 23, 2023, from one of his hotels in Oba, Idemili North local government area of Anambra State.

Renowned for his reported abilities, including the power of disappearance, Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki, surprisingly, could not elude his kidnappers.

In a violent confrontation, two of his personal aides were brutally murdered before the assailants seized him.

His capture occurred with an unsettling ease at Triple P Hotel, one of three hotels he owned in Oba, causing a wave of disbelief among his followers, as he was regarded as one of the most potent native doctors in the state.

The Anambra State police command has since confirmed the incident.

According to DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the incident unfolded around 11:30 pm on Sunday, Jjuly 23, 2023.

State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, has instructed officers to immediately commence investigations and ensure the safe return of the native doctor.

“The ease of his abduction has put a question mark on his rumoured strength,” said an anonymous source close to the situation, echoing the sentiments of surprise and disbelief rippling through the community.

While the perpetrators have yet to contact Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki’s family regarding any ransom demands, hordes of people flock to his residence in Oba, seeking verification of the news and questioning the extent of the reputed spiritual practitioner’s powers.

As the law enforcement intensifies their efforts to locate Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki and his captors, the unsettling incident has cast a cloud of uncertainty and concern over the region, challenging the community’s faith in the enigmatic native doctor’s powers and sparking fears over the security situation in the area.

Ekiti APC Chairman, Paul Omotosho, Kidnapped

According to party officials, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State, Paul Omotoso, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Saturday, July 8, 2023, while driving along Agbado Ekiti – Imesi Ekiti Road.

Segun Dipe, the APC State Publicity Secretary, confirmed the abduction on Saturday, July 8, 2023, stating that Omotoso was alone in his Venza car when the incident occurred.

“The chairman was driving along the road when the bandit shot at one of the car’s tyres. He was taken into a Toyota Hilux van and driven off. According to the information we have, he was alone in the car when the incident happened,” Dipe reported.

He added that the incident happened in the evening, and the party received the information around 6 pm.

The police and local security agencies, including Amotekun, a Western Nigeria Security Network, have been alerted and are working on the case.

When reached for comment, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu, stated that he was awaiting confirmation of the details of the incident.

“I will get back as soon as I get the confirmation,” Abutu said.

The kidnapping marks a stark escalation of insecurity in the state, raising concerns about safety among politicians and the public alike.

The authorities have yet to identify the kidnappers or their motives.
