Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has reinstated the suspended chairman of Port Harcourt Local Government Area, Victor Ihunwo who was suspended in July.
Ihunwo was relieved of his council duties over his alleged involvement in ‘illegal tax collection’.
In a statement on Monday, October 5, 2020 signed by the secretary to the state government, SSG Tammy Danagogo disclosed the Governor had lifted the suspension.
The statement read: “The Chairman is to resume normal duties immediately, and has been strictly warned to abide by all the rules governing local government administration.
“He is further warned to desist from engaging in all forms of illegal or double taxation or any other acts against the public interest.”
