Kidnapped Ebonyi House Majority Leader Released, Beaten To Coma

The Ebonyi State House of Assembly majority Leader, Hon Sam Nwali, who was abducted by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Thursday, July 24, 2014, has been released by his abductors.

Nwali, who represents Ikwo North State constituency, was released in the afternoon of the same day but was left in a terrible condition as he was beaten to a state of coma.

Nwali is currently in the state Department of State Services (DSS) receiving medical attention.

According to reports, the Ebonyi state governor Chief Martin Elechi, members of the State Assembly including the new speaker,  Helen Nwobashi, were seen driving into the SSS office at about 3:15pm that Thursday, and at about 4pm, the governor was also seen leaving the SSS office without the members of the House of Assembly.

A member representing Ohaukwu North State constituency, Frank Onwe, disclosed to the press that they were in the SSS office to visit Nwali.
