1 Dead In Ogun As Violence Erupts During Gov Amosu’s Local Government Assessment Tour

There peace enjoyed by the residents of Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State was on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, disrupted when a fight ensued between two rival groups.

One person had died following the attack of the warring groups who used some dangerous weapons in the process.

An eyewitness who identified himself as a public analyst, Biodun Sowunmi, having escaped the attack  said the incident happened while Governor Ibikunle Amosun “assessment tour” to the Ilaro local government.

Sowunmi disclosed that the fight which left several people with different injuries was over “territorial protection”.

It was gathered that the incident occurred outside the venue of the assessment tour and did not affect the programme, Vanguard reports.

The Ogun state police public relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident revealed that one man’s life was lost during the fight emanated from hoodlums who used various dangerous weapons.

Meanwhile, he added that about 16 people had been so far nabbed and different weapons recovered which included four pump action guns, cutlasses, axes and various charms.
