Many Feared Dead As Boko Haram Launches 2 More Attacks On Maiduguri

At least 20 people have been killed as suspected Boko Haram insurgents intensified their attacks on the Borno State capital, Maiduguri.

According to Galaxy TV, the first attack occurred in the early hours of the day as about 20 people were killed as a bomb went off close to a mosque.

The second set of attacks were suicide bombing suspected to have been detonated by teenage girls.

According to a civil servant, Yunusa Abdullahi who spoke to Premium Times: “A man saw two girls walking around and he tried to caution them to be careful as it was dangerous for them to be wandering when the two girls detonated themselves, killing the man and some other persons.

“Since last night, residents have been finding undetonated bombs believed to have been abandoned by Boko Haram gunmen.

“We are under siege and we don’t know how many of these bombs or these female suicide bombers were sneaked into Maiduguri.”

The Borno State police command is yet to release an official statement as at the time of filing this report.
