#RIP: Captain Of Nasarawa United, Baba Idris Is Dead

Captain of Nasarawa United, Baba Idris, is dead, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club has confirmed.

The club’s team manager, Solomon Babanjah Idris said he passed away on Monday night, December 28, 2015 after being ill for a while.

Babanjah said: “Our captain Baba Idris has been sick for a while. Unfortunately he died last night in hospital. His death is a painful one for the club and his family.

“Baba was a shining example for every player at the club, and was always ready to sacrifice to make things work and even make results go the way of the team. He was a committed professional to the extent that if he is not in the team, he will give those playing every support he can.”

Nasarawa United midfielder, Esosa Igbinoba, also could not hide his pain over the death of his club captain.

He told supersport.com: “The club has lost a real leader. He was a brother to us. I am saddened by this.”

Idris was buried on Tuesday morning according to Islamic rites, said the club official.
