15 Year Old Murder Suspect Escapes From Custody In Edo

A 15-year-old murder suspect has reportedly escaped from police custody in Benin City, Edo State.

Identified as Gift, he was alleged to have killed a mother and her three-year old daughter, according to the Punch.

His whereabout has become a mystery to the people.

The murder suspect, reports say escaped last Saturday morning from his detention at Upper sakponba area of Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The suspect and others now at large were suspects in the murder of a 28-year-old woman, Itohan Enagbare which occurred at about 1pm on December 9, 2015.

The alarm of his escape was raised by Jefferson Uwoghiren, counsel to the family of the Enagbare, who described the disappearance as disturbing.

But the state police public relations officer, Mr. Osifo Abiodun, said he had not received any report on it.
He said the runaway suspect did not escape from police custody.

“If there is any escape from custody, either prison or not, and the matter is reported to the police, of course, it
is the duty of the police to go after the suspect. For now I am not aware”.
