20-year-old Naizi Eyah a native of Edo State in Nigeria was reportedly found dead in her hostel room on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
The deceased was a third year Computer Systems Engineering student of Vaal University of Technology, South Africa
According to her friends, Eyah was involved in an abusive relationship with an unidentified Zimbabwean student of the same institution who they believe is responsible for her death as a result of their breakup.
The suspect who was arrested by the police following reports from the deceased friends that he had beat her up on several occasions and even threatened to kill her during the course of their relationship was released two days later due to lack of solid proof which connects him to her death.
Naizi Eyah’s friends are seeking for assistance from the Nigerian Authorities in investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of their friend as they are not satisfied with the efforts put in by the South African police in bringing the perpetrators of this inhumane acts to book.
