2 Adamawa Lawmakers Suspended For Defecting To NNPP

Two lawmakers of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Simon and Hon Yettisuri have been suspended for 3 months over an allegation of defecting to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

According to Assembly sources, the suspension became necessarily when their names were enlisted by INEC as candidates for another political party other than the one they were voted into office.

Their suspension followed a constitutional matter raised by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo(Numan), informed the Assembly about the defection.

He said that both legislators were elected under the platform of the PDP but cross-carpeted to other political parties, saying that their seats ought to be declared vacant based on the provision of the Constitution.

He said that their names appeared as candidates for Fufore/Song and Mayo Belwa, Jada, Ganye, and Toungo Federal Constituencies under NNPP.

Announcing the suspension, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, suspended the lawmakers for 3 months pending when they will formalise their defection.
