Must read

NAN – Mr Chris Anyanwu, the Ebonyi Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), has confirmed that armed robbers on Tuesday vandalised an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) installed inside the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) campus of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.

Anyanwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the command had commenced investigations into the matter.

He said that the exact amount would be made public after the conclusion of the command’s investigations.

“We cannot ascertain the actual amount stolen by the robbers; our findings would be made public after the conclusion of our investigation,”

NAN correspondent reports that the machine belongs to one of the old generation banks and that the robbers evaded the school’s security to perpetrate the act.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness, who spoke to NAN on condition of anonymity, said the robbers carted away huge sums of money from the machine.

“The robbers invaded the campus early Tuesday morning, went to the bank and carted the money away after vandalising the machine.

“I cannot ascertain the actual amount stolen from the bank but I overheard some of the staff saying that over N10 million was stolen.

“I also heard that the robbers attacked the security men guarding the school and dispossessed them of their weaponry before vandalising the machine,” he said.
