Serbian defender, Branislav Ivanovic is set to sign a new one-year deal with Chelsea. The signing is expected to take place on Thursday, January 21, 2016 and will put an end to rumours and speculations about the 31-year-old’s future.
The new deal will tally with his current £120,000-a-week wage. Chelsea has a policy of offering players who are over 30 years old only one-year contract extensions.
Ivanovic was supposed to be out of contract by the end of the current campaign.
This will serve as a morale booster for the Serbian whose performances for Chelsea this season has dramatically improved since Jose Mourinho was sacked in December 2015.
