‎President Muhammadu Buhari has released the names of 47 ambassadorial nominees in a letter read at the floor of the Nigerian senate.

The names were contained in a letter sent to the senate, and read on the floor of the legislative chamber by Senate President Bukola Saraki on Thursday, June 9, 2016.

President Buhari is currently on a 10-day sick leave in London, UK where he is receiving treatment for an ear infection, according to the Nigerian presidency. London doctors have diagnosed the president with cancer, sources say.

It is unclear when this list was forwarded to the senate.

The letter sought the senate’s approval for‎ the confirmation of the ambassadorial nominees who are “career diplomats”.

The Ambassadorial Nominees

Some of the names of “the career diplomats” who will head Nigeria’s missions abroad when confirmed by the senate ‎ are Salisu Umoru, Liman Munir, Mohammed Hassan Hassan, Bello Kazaure, Garba Baba, Umar Salisu, Kadiri Ayinla Audu, Ibrahim Isa, and Bankole Adeoye.

Some ambassadorial nominees are Ibrahim Hamza, KC Nwachukwu, Olufemi Abekoye, Adekunbi Abibat, Olatunde Adesesan, Obinna Chukwuemeka, Okeke Vivian, Ngozi Okeje, Usman Bakure, Balogun Akeem and Kabiru Bala.
