There was considerable pandemonium in Isolo area of Lagos after a driver ran over his conductor while attempting to escape from Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) near Second Rainbow bus stop along the Oshodi-Apapa expressway.
The Trent gathered that the incident, which happened on Monday, October 27, 2014 resulted in protests by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) who accused LASTMA officials of attempting to extort the driver which made attempt to escape, leading to the accident.
The protests halted commercial activities in the Isolo and Cele axis.
An eye witness said: “Some area boys quickly mobilised some commercial buses and took the corpse of the boy from Second Rainbow area where the incident occurred to Cele. There, armed with dangerous weapons, they went after the LASMA men and damaged the windscreens of vehicles.”
