CAN Secures Release Of Christian Man Detained By DSS For Converting Muslim Girl

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has secured the release of Simput Dafup. Dafup was arrested three weeks ago in Jos, and detained in Abuja by the Department of State Securities (DSS) for allegedly converting a Muslim girl, has been freed.

Mr. Dafup and his co-detainee were arrested for converting to Christianity, one Nabila Sanda Galadima, daughter of a renowned northeast businessman.

The Christian Association acting on a request forwarded through the ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Gado, mounted pressure on the Director General of the DSS until Simput Dafup and one other were released without conditions.

The released suspects arrived Jos on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at about 9 pm in company of Rev. Yakubu Pam, CAN Northern Chairman who signed his bail form, and other Christian leaders

He was reunited with his family amidst cheers. Special prayers were offered for his health and safety after which he was taken to an undisclosed location where he is expected to undergo medical examination.

A suit filed by Barrister Prof. Francis Kwede of the university of Jos in regards of his arrest is expected to be heard at the Jos Federal High Court this week.
