Catholic Reverend Father Dies Of COVID-19 In Benue

A Catholic Reverend Father has died of COVID-19 complications in Benue state.

The reverend father, who is yet to be named, died on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Benue State Teaching Hospital.

This was disclosed by the deputy governor of the state, Benson Abounu, while addressing newsmen in Makurdi on Monday.

Abounu, who is chairman of the state’s action committee on COVID19, said: “In the last one week, we have recorded a mortality at the Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi, everyday we recorded a mortality, including this morning.

“A Reverend Father passed on this morning.

“The other time, within five days we lost four prominent Benue people. so this variant is not one that anybody should joke with.

“As much as possible, avoid going into any gathering of any nature for now. It is only if it is a must. The best treatment for COVID19 is prevention.”

Benue state has a total of 653 confirmed cases of the potentially deadly virus.
