“You observe days and months and seasons and years.” Galatians 4:10 NKJV
When Paul wrote to the Romans, he said, “In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable.” (Romans 14:5). But here’s what he wrote to the Galatians, “But now you know the true God. Really, though, it is God who knows you. So why do you turn back to the same kind of weak and useless rules you followed before? Do you want to be slaves to those things again? It worries me that you follow teachings about special days, months, seasons, and years. I fear that my work for you has been wasted.”
In Romans, he addressed the issue of judging one another, and in Galatians, he talked about maturity, knowledge, grace and liberty in Christ. Isn’t it surprising that even today, we are still observing days and seasons, to the point that we regard some more days as holier and more important than others? We also regard some months as more evil than others! But to the mature man, all days are actually alike! You don’t need to wait for a special day to be blessed, neither do you need to wait for a particular day to crossover to wherever you are crossing to! There’s also no special day to feel closer to God! Do you understand?
Colossians 2:16-17 says, “So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.” May God grant us more understanding in Jesus name.
