“And these signs will follow those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” – Mark 16:17-18 NKJV
When Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he said, “When I was with you, I patiently did the things that prove I am an apostle—signs, wonders, and miracles.” 2 Corinthians 12:12. Signs, wonders and miracles were proof of Paul’s calling as an apostle. In other words, if he didn’t do signs, wonders and miracles then it would have been difficult to prove that he was an apostle.
The signs, wonders and miracles are like an identity card. It’s same for all believers: as people who believe in Jesus there must be something to prove to the world that we are believers; we must be able to show the world that Jesus is still doing good!
Years ago when I received the revelation of this, I was in the university; I began to look for the sick, and I laid hands on them in order that they might be healed. If Jesus said it, that’s exactly how it ought to be! He didn’t say that it’s only meant for pastors, bishops, apostles, etc; no, He said that the signs shall follow all those who believe! As you go out to tell the world about Jesus, trust the Lord to confirm the words that you speak with signs and wonders.
These signs are following me because I believe: I am casting out demons in the name of Jesus; I speak with new tongues; I take up serpents; and if I drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt me; I will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. Every day there are visible and verifiable proofs of my faith!
