Christians In Edo Protest Killing Of Pastor By Boko Haram

Must read

Following the killing of a pastor, Blessing Ehiorobo, by the dreaded Boko Haram sect in Bauchi state, the Nigeria Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF), Benin Chapter has come out to condemn the act by the Islamist extremists.

In a statement by its president, Mrs. Uche Chiejina the group says that the murder of the pastor who is an Edo indigene was  “barbaric, vexatious and unacceptable to the Christian community.”

NCGF went on to say that the action by the sect was unacceptable, slamming attempts by the terror group to forcefully Islamise parts of Northern Nigeria, which has led to the killing of thousands of Christians and vandalisation of churches.

Vanguard reports:

Calling on religious groups in the country to imbibe the spirit of tolerance, respect for the sanctity of life, the fellowship charged security agencies and governments at all level in Nigeria to live up to their duties of protecting lives and property in all parts of Nigeria.

It warned that the patience of Nigerian Christians should not be taken for granted by those who now take delight in attacking Christians and destroying worship centres.

The body enjoined believers to be more prayerful, be supportive of missionary activities and to resist the “obvious annihilation of Christianity in northern Nigeria,” adding that holiness and righteousness should not be compromised for any material gain.

It appealed to members of the fellowship across the country to support the widows and children of the slain members and remember them in prayers.
