Tyler Perry has been a wealthy man for quite some time. Now, he’s gained the ultimate wealth by receiving the gift of fatherhood. The 45-year old Perry just announced that his longtime girlfriend, Gelila Bekele, has given birth to their first child together. Their new son, Aman Tyler Perry, was born on November 30 of this year, according to PEOPLE Magazine
“Mom and baby are happy and healthy. Tyler is so excited,” a source told PEOPLE.
The baby’s name has a meaning. The name Aman means peace and represents “the true meaning of Thanksgiving and then, of course, the holiday season,” according to the source.
Tyler’s friends say that he’s excited about having a son of his own. The couple sent out a birth announcement about the baby and asked that friends not send them any gifts. Instead, they’ve asked that their friends make a donation to Charity Water, a group that helps provide clean water to third world countries.
“Tyler is thrilled. He and Gelila are so excited,” a source told PEOPLE in September. “They’ve got the nursery ready and he’s ready to change diapers.”
Sitting on a growing net worth of $400 million, Tyler should have plenty of money for diapers. This year, he was #56 on the Celebrity 100 of top-earning celebs with an annual income of $70 million dollars. That revenue continues to grow for Perry and his massive studio in Atlanta, which is producing films each year that gross millions of dollars in revenue. He also has two successful television shows with the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
Bekele has an extraordinary career of her own, appearing in multiple ads as a fashion model. She has been featured in advertisements for Levi’s, Pantene, L’oreal and many other companies. She’s also appeared in many major fashion magazines. When she’s not working the runway, she’s working hard as an activist, mainly in charities that benefit her home country of Ethiopia. It appears that the two of them have a heart for philanthropy, which is a very good thing for the world.
