Trigger-Happy Policeman Who Killed Man At Relaxation Centre Remanded In Ekiti Prison

A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, December 3, 2020, ordered the remand of a Police inspector, Tizhe Goji, 38, in prison custody for allegedly killing a fun seeker, Abayomi Olaoye along Ado-Ikere area of the state capital.

The fun seeker was allegedly shot dead on November 21, 2020, by the triggered-happy Goji, who was attached to a senior officer.

Caleb Leranmo, the Police prosecutor, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 21, 2020, in Ado-Ekiti.

Leranmo alleged that the defendants, being a policeman serving in Ekiti, on the said date unlawfully murdered one Abayomi Olaoye, 32, by shooting him with his gun at a bar parlor.

According to him, the offence was punishable Under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.

He claimed that he had duplicated his case file to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice.

The defendants plea was not taken as his counsel, Ola Abiola sought for a short date of adjournment till the outcome of the advice from DPP.

Abdulhamid Lawal, the chief magistrate remanded him in the Correctional center pending the legal advice from the office of DPP.
