OWERRI, Nigeria – The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has decried former militant leader Asari Dokubo as a “criminal and economic saboteur.”
This is a response to Dokubo’s recent statement urging President Bola Tinubu not to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Following a meeting with President Tinubu on Friday, June 16, 2023, Dokubo expressed his view that freeing Kanu would essentially equate to endorsing criminality in the Southeast.

“Releasing Nnamdi Kanu is rewarding criminality and rewarding gruesome murder of innocent people. He should face the law for the actions and instigations he has carried out,” Dokubo proclaimed.
Uchenna Madu, the leader of MASSOB on Sunday, June 18, 2023, swiftly condemned Dokubo’s remarks, referring to them as the “ranting of a frustrated criminal.”
Madu stated, “Asari Dokubo should be ashamed of himself, for biting the finger that fed him, by selling his conscience as an object of cheap sabotage against the collective interest of the Eastern region.”
Madu argued that Dokubo is in fact the real criminal, not Kanu. He noted, “How can a man with illegal possession of general-purpose machine guns and hundreds of AK-47 call a man without a catapult a criminal?”
The MASSOB leader went on to remind Dokubo of his past actions, particularly his involvement in the destruction and vandalism of petroleum pipelines under the banner of self-determination agitation for the Ijaw people.
Madu asserted, “Asari Dokubo asking Tinubu not to release Nnamdi Kanu is a direct exposure of the real criminal who should be ignored.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not a criminal or an inconsequential saboteur like the Moslem perpetual slave called Alhaji Dokubo Asari.”
