A case of jungle justice has emerged as five women were stoned to death after they were being accused of being witches in Kinja Village in Jharkland state, India.

According to AFP, the residents had earlier blamed five women for failing crops, bringing illness to the village and even for the recent death of a child through their witchcraft.

It was gathered that the victims aged between 45 and 50 were dragged from their homes and attacked with sticks and iron rods around the midnight on Friday August 7,2015.

Police spokesperson, Arun Kumar Singh said, “It looks like the village held a grudge against these women for a very long time, holding them responsible for various misfortunes.”

About 50 villagers have been reportedly arrested over the killing shortly after the women were stoned to death.
