TRAGIC: Death Toll Hits 36 In A Month Of Cult Clashes In Edo

At least 36 people are said to have been killed within one month of violent exchanges between the Eiye and Black Axe confraternities in Edo State, source at the Benin Central Hospital mortuary have revealed.

Thisday reports that an unnamed attendant at the morgue, who spoke on the condition of anonymity stated that the according to hospital records, a total of 36 bullet–ridden bodies have been deposited since the start of December 2014.

The official said: “I am surprised that the police are saying only six deaths have been recorded. My brother, we are tired. As at the last count, it was 36.

“The last one that was brought to this morgue was so bad that his skull was opened into two parts, I could not eat when I got home.”

The alleged cult war turned more sour on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 when four persons were reportedly killed at four different parts of the Edo State capital, Benin City, with some reports claiming that the killings was brought about by the use of a cult symbol by a member of a rival cult member at a birthday party.
