The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has detained Bala Bello Tinka, a gubernatorial aspirant under the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Bello Tinka is accused of complicity involving the 2015 campaign funds disbursed by detained former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
An anonymous source disclosed to Daily Sun on Monday, January 29, 2018 that Tinka was initially invited by operatives of the agency on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 before he was subsequently detained.
He has since been released. This is the second time Tinka is being detained by the anti-graft agency at the Gombe zonal office as EFCC steps up investigations into slush funds allegedly deployed to procure victory for the then ruling party during the 2015 general election.
Tinka is believed to be a close associate of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo,and considered to be among the leading contenders vying for the governorship ticket under the platform of the PDP.
It would be recalled that newly appointed Head of Operations for the zone, Johnson Babalola, recently informed journalists that the agency has finalised arrangements to arraign three suspects said to be connected to the PDP campaign fund scam before a court in Jos.
