The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has made another attempt to convince the United Nations (UN) to pass a resolution recognising the South-Eastern region of Nigeria as the Republic of Biafra.
Making the call via a statement issued by Sunday Okereafor, the National Assistant Director of Information of the movement, MASSOB said the sought after recognition will conform with the recognition the republic got in the 1960’s.
Okereafor further stated that the just concluded election was a repeat of the 1960’s episode where two of the three major blocs in the country conspired against the South East, leading to the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War.
He went on to state that the “political marriage” between the North and South- West was not in line with the current political arrangement of the Nigeria of today, hence the need for the UN to recognise Biafra as a sovereign state.
