We are quite aware that lots of people have been expecting this moment when there would be a specific word for female masturbation.
Male masturbation has been dubbed a number of funny things including, ‘Burping the worm’, ‘Cranking the love pump, ‘Choking the chicken’, ‘Bashing the bishop’, ‘Spanking the monkey’, ‘Beating the meat’, ‘Twirling the pearl’, ‘Dotting the ‘i’’, ‘Beating around the bush,’ ‘Gusset typing’, ‘A night in with the girls’ and so on.
Now, the word for female masturbation is ‘Klittra’ which was derived from a combination of clitoris and glitter.
It’s actually Swedish, and really gets one wondering what they actually get up to in Sweden and guessing what exactly an English man would call it.
According to Metro UK, the word was the winner in a competition launched by the Swedish Association for Sexual Education launched a competition to find a new word with an ‘open, positive view of sex and relationship issues’.
It was gathered from the Association that, “Historically, women’s sexuality and not least female masturbation has been taboo.
“Women are not expected to have desires and be turned on in the same way as men, which is reflected in the lack of words.”
