People across the globe have launched a campaign with hashtag #FlexinMyComplexion to show off their beautiful dark skin photos on social media.
Men and women who are dark-skinned and felt their colour often goes unnoticed took to Twitter and Facebook on Friday, August 14, 2015 to prove that their skin colour is actually beautiful and should be cherished.
The campaign was inspired by the works of a female artist and activist, Kameelah Janan Rasheed, who operates POCBeauty, a Twitter account that celebrates people of colour.
She said: “I think it’s important for women of color to know if they’re brown/dark they’re beautiful too and deserve to be noticed. Dark skin, in all backgrounds, is beautiful and should be recognized as so.”
