Gunmen Kill 19-Year-Old Student, 1 Other In Delta

A group of unknown gunmen had over the weekend, killed a 19-year-old student  of Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara, at the headquarters of Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The deceased student identified as Chukuemeka Onuoha, was shot dead in his family house at 33, Isumpe Road, Kwale, while the second victim was stabbed by the assailants at Umusam area of the community and was rushed to a hospital where he finally died hours later.

The gunmen were suspected to be cultists, although the circumstances surrounding the killings were hazy at press time.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, disclosed that the father of the deceased student, Mr. Emma Onuoha, an indigene of Imo State had reported that a group of boys had forced themselves into his house in the early hours of Saturday, January 23, 2016 and shot his son on the chest.

According to her, the deceased was confirmed dead at Brema Hospital, Kwale, and his remains was deposited at St Luke Hospital Mortuary in the state.

Kalu said no arrest had been made and maintained that police had commenced investigations into the matter, Vanguard reports.

Adequate security measures have been put in place as a combined team of soldiers, officers from the Kwale Police Division as well as the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps have been deployed to the area.
