Heartbreaking: ‘Our future is gone’ – Father Who Lost Teenage Son In #AbujaBombBlast

By ThisDay on April 15, 2014

For the family of Mr. James Udei, a retired civil servant, who lost a son in the bombing of the Nyanya Bus Park, the tears won’t stop so soon. They are grief stricken at the death of their son, Emmanuel, in the attack.

Yesterday had started just like any other day for Udei, but the event that happened a few hours later has altered their lives forever. For a household made up of Udei, his wife, Angela, Emmanuel, and daughter, Victoria, the week had seemingly begun on a good note, so they had thought when they woke up in the morning to prepare for a new day.

But all that was to change when the family heard of the bomb blast and embarked on a journey in search of Emmanuel. Their search for their first son had taken them to the Maitama General Hospital where they finally found his mangled body, torn apart by the bomb.

At the hospital, Emma’s mother, a woman in her early 50s, wailed excruciatingly.

“Oh Emma, my first son, my first son, oh Emma, Emma has gone, Emma is finished. Emma don go o. Oh Jesus. I called his number, his number was deceiving me that it is not reachable,” Mrs. Udei screamed in agony.

Her husband told THISDAY that he had told him to wait for him so that he could join him in the trip to town, but he chose to go to the park to take a bus.

“A boy of 19 years, whom we used to boast of as our future, is now gone. Oh we are finished,” he said.

He explained that Emma was a painter, who was hardworking and very committed to his job. The family lived in Ado in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
