Israel is focusing its efforts on destroying the network of Hamas tunnels which it says enable militants to infiltrate the Jewish state.

Footage posted on YouTube by the Shebab News Agency claims to give a first hand account of a Hamas militant’s journey through one such tunnel, from Gaza into Israel.

In the video, fighters can be seen emerging from underground, before running off towards what appears to be an Israeli army watchtower.

The subsequent footage of that attack is too graphic to show.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defence Force (IDF) has also released videos, including one which appears to show its soldiers discovering a hidden rocket launcher and a tunnel.

The entrance to the passage was concealed inside a corrugated tin shack.

According to the Israeli army, robots mounted with cameras were sent down a tunnel by troops before it was detonated in a controlled explosion.

At least 1,210 Palestinians have been killed since the start of fighting on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 a Palestinian health official said.

Israel has reported 53 soldiers and three civilians killed.
