BREAKING NEWS: Scores Feared Dead In Suicide Bomb Attack In Potiskum

A suicide bomber has detonated an explosive device killing scores of Muslim worshipers in Potiskum the Yobe State capital, Channels reports.

The explosion was said to have occurred around 11:15am on Monday, November 3, 2014.

According to eye witnesses, the explosion occurred among some Muslim worshipers during a procession at the Potiskum metropolis by a Muslim brotherhood known as “The Shia”, in commemoration of the 10th day of Muharram 1436 celebration killing scores of the participants.

Also, the residents of Potiskum, an area with several records of bomb attacks claimed that the explosion had claimed the lives of most of the members of the group  especially women and children.

It was further gathered that operatives of different security forces have presently “cleared off ” the area whereas residents were stuck in their different locations to avoid being victimized by further attacks.

Confirming the incident, the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Mr Markus Danladi, said that the suicide bomber took advantage of the procession to carry out his dastardly act but casualty figure was yet to be known.

“Yes a suicide bomber was among the Shia group and detonated his explosive device, killing members of the group, but I am still on my way to the scene of the incident,” Danladi said.
