Kano State Government has declared Tuesday, October 4, 2016 as public holiday, to mark the beginning of the new Islamic calendar 1438 A.H.
The Islamic New Year is on the first day of Muharram, the first month in the lunar Islamic calendar.
The state government organised a Muslim prayer session at the Government House Mosque in Kano, to usher in the new Islamic year, which coincided with activities marking Nigeria’s 56th anniversary celebration.
