KWAM 1 Spilled Alcohol on Airport Officer, Disrupted Flight — FAAN Confirms [WATCH]

ABUJA, Nigeria — The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, also known as Kwam 1 or K1 De Ultimate, was involved in a disruptive incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, which led to the suspension of two pilots.

In a statement released on Wednesday, FAAN said the musician spilled alcohol on an aviation security officer during a routine check after he refused to comply with requests to verify the contents of a flask he attempted to board with.

According to the authority, the incident occurred on August 5, 2025, during boarding procedures for ValueJet Flight VK 201 headed to Lagos.

The airline had earlier come under regulatory scrutiny after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) suspended two of its pilots for allegedly commencing departure without proper clearance.

FAAN’s investigation has now revealed that the flight disruption was linked to Kwam 1’s conduct, which violated established aviation safety protocols.

“The passenger was informed of this regulation but reportedly declined to comply,” FAAN stated, referring to the internationally recognised restriction on carrying liquids over 100ml onboard aircraft without proper medical justification.

“He was asked to step aside for clarification, but he refused and spilled the contents of the flask—later confirmed to be alcohol—on the airline security officer.”

The situation reportedly escalated when the flight captain intervened and instructed that the aircraft door be shut after confirming boarding was complete.

However, Kwam 1 allegedly moved to the front of the plane and refused to vacate the area, prompting further disruption.

He was escorted away by the Aviation Security (AVSEC) crime unit for questioning and later released.

FAAN reaffirmed that its security personnel acted in line with Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and ICAO Annex 17, which prohibit unauthorised liquids onboard commercial aircraft.

The agency warned that aviation safety regulations apply to all passengers equally, regardless of status or popularity.

“FAAN will not tolerate any action that compromises operational integrity or undermines aviation safety standards,” the statement read.

While investigations are ongoing, FAAN assured that “those found culpable will be held accountable according to the law.”
