In the wake of several tragic accidents involving heavy duty vehicles in the state, the Lagos State Government has banned the movement of such vehicles between 6am and 9pm.
This comes on the heels of an accident in Ojuelegba, where a cement-laden container fell off a trailer , killing three persons in a Sport Utility vehicle.
Making the announcement was the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry Of Transportation, Oluseyi Whenu, who on Saturday, September 5, 2015 availed that such movement negates Section 2 (i) and 2 (ii) of the Traffic Law.
He said the Lagos State Government would henceforth go tough on trailers and long vehicles that broke the law, as the vehicle will be impounded and the owners fined.
